Data Sources
Our brand data is compiled from:
- Publicly available franchise disclosure documents
- Regulatory filings with the ACCC and state regulators
- Published franchise directories and industry reports
- Media reporting and court records
Where data is estimated or derived, we indicate this clearly. We do not present estimates as facts.
Financial Calculator
The Financial Reality Calculator uses standard accounting formulas. Variable costs are calculated as percentages of revenue. Fixed costs are annualised. Break-even is calculated as the revenue point where total costs equal total revenue. Sensitivity analysis applies percentage variations to the base revenue input.
FDD Decoder Scoring
The FDD Decoder scores documents across four dimensions, each weighted equally at 25%:
- Transparency — How much key information is disclosed
- Fairness — Balance of rights between franchisor and franchisee
- Cost Clarity — Completeness and clarity of fee disclosures
- Franchisee Protection — Territory, renewal, and termination protections
Franchise Ready Score
The assessment evaluates readiness across six dimensions: financial preparedness, relevant experience, commitment level, risk tolerance, market awareness, and support preparedness. Each question is scored 1-4, producing a total score out of 60.

All tools provide general information and estimates. They cannot account for your specific circumstances, local market conditions, or the current state of any franchise system. Our tools complement, but do not replace, professional advice from qualified accountants and lawyers.
